I originally called this short piece The "When England Lost to Italy in the Cup Final on Penalties" BLUES,
to reflect my sadness at England football team's narrow defeat to Italy in the Euro 2020 final held in July 2021!!
I have renamed it "Bluesy" to give it a less whacky title and to make it globally more appealing.
It's exactly the same music with just a different title .....
Fresh ideas in flute music
It's all about the Blues....
Did you know? The name of this great American music probably originated with the 17th-century English expression
“the blue devils,” for the intense visual hallucinations that can accompany severe alcohol withdrawal!!
Shortened over time to “the blues,” it came to mean a state of agitation or depression.
Today, musicians play “the blues” in the twelve-bar format introduced by
William C. Handy in his 1912 sheet music “Memphis Blues.”
Unsurprisingly, it's known as the "12-bar-blues"...
This piece also has a "Gospel" feel, created by the chord sequence
Bb D7 Gm at the beginning...
