"Taking Flight!"
A lively piece inspired by the amazing aerobatic displays by the wonderful "Red Arrows" British Royal Air Force Aerobatic Display Team - however, it is not just descriptive of fast jet planes in flight ...

It's a refreshingly up-tempo piece in a pop-style that would be great for concert or practice.

"The Wellerman Jig"
Oooh Arrr - Ahoy There Me Hearties!! This is a fast and lively Jig based on the 19th Century Sea Shanty "The Wellerman Song" - recently made famous on Tik Tok and YouTube, sung by Nathan Evans.
Sea Shanties were intended to be performed "a capella" by sailors on ships - instead I've made it into a fast lively "Jig".

"Slavonic Folk Dance"

The YouTube video footage is of Eastern European dancers dancing to original folk music, and this is my lively dance in this style.

I've tried to recreate the celebration of Eastern European traditional culture in a joyous, carefree and innocent way.

"Circle Dance"

"Hora" is a type of "circle dance" originating in Jewish communities.
The folk-dancers join together in a circle during the performance, often linking arms.

This lively dance is full of character.

"Tucca-Tucca Toccata!"

We've all heard of the famous "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" by Bach. Play along to this fun pop-style backing track and practice your double-tonguing!

There's no piano part for this piece. Instead, a high quality "pop-style" backing track. THREE versions of increasing difficulty.

"Freeway Freedom!"
It's summer! Time to get out on the open road in your classic Cadillac convertible, head for the hills and feel the breeze in your hair ... !

The backing track has a hint of 60's pop - and has a carefree, "feelgood" style.
It would also work as a piece for flute solo.

"Hootenanny Hopscotch"
Inspired by wonderful sprightly and colourful Scottish dancing to lively Scottish folk music.
The main theme is taken from a short piano piece called "Ecossaise" by Johann Hässler.
I've arranged it by adding more melodies and key changes to create this adaptation.
"Hootenanny" is a Scottish word for an informal gathering with folk music.

"Smile, Be Happy!"

When I composed it during the COVID pandemic (2021), I said,"It's my ambition to cheer up the world right now 😁😁😁" ..

... so I hope this cheeky, jolly piece might do that.
If I can bring just one smile to someone's face, I will have achieved my goal..

"Razzle Dazzle!"
Razzle Dazzle! is a piece for flute solo in "swing" style, inspired by show-stopping stage and screen dance routines! Play it with either a live piano accompaniment, or a lively "Big-Band" style backing track.

I've also included backing tracks featuring piano only, and piano/bass/drums.

"Livewire!"

It's 1950's swing-time! This is my fun-filled composition for flute and piano - or backing track.

It also sounds fine as an unaccompanied flute solo.
I've based it unashamedly on the 12-bar blues chord sequence.
Put on your blue suede shoes, grab your partner and get down on the dance-floor!!

"A Spring in Your Step"
This is a little waltz I composed for flute and piano.

My inspiration came from my annual ritual of watching on TV the New Year's Day concert from Vienna.

My piece is intended to convey the simplistic joy and beauty of this charming triple-time genre.
